What I Do

Consulting services

Every engagement is grounded in two decades of practice across K–12, community colleges, and statewide higher education, and in frameworks built to center learners structurally, not as exceptions.

Grant Writing & Funded Program Design

From concept to award. I write competitive proposals, design fundable programs, and build the budgets and logic models funders look for.

  • Federal, state & foundation proposals (WIOA, USDOE, Lumina)
  • Program & budget design, logic models, evaluation plans
  • Grant strategy and prospect research

Equity Strategy & Culturally Sustaining Practice

Move from statements to structure. As a certified Equity Coach, I help institutions embed asset-based, culturally sustaining practice into how they operate.

  • Equity audits & culturally sustaining practice coaching
  • New Adult Learner Success Model (NALSM) implementation
  • BIPOC student access & belonging strategy
🔗

Adult Learner & Career Pathway Design

Build on-ramps that work. I design non-credit to credit pathways and wrap-around supports that move adult learners from enrollment to credential.

  • Non-credit to credit & Integrated Education & Training (IET) models
  • WIOA-aligned career pathways & intrusive advising
  • Wrap-around & basic-needs support design
📊

Research, Evaluation & Policy Analysis

Evidence that drives decisions. Mixed-methods research, program evaluation, and policy analysis written for both policymakers and practitioners.

  • Mixed-methods studies, case studies & needs assessments
  • Program evaluation & data storytelling (Power BI, SPSS, Dedoose)
  • Policy briefs & reports for state and national audiences
🏫

Professional Development & Facilitation

Training that sticks. I design and lead workshops, curricula, and convenings that build capacity and shift practice across teams.

  • Curriculum & facilitator-toolkit design
  • Workshops, retreats & leadership development
  • Conference & convening design (200+ attendee events)
🌍

Immigrant & Multilingual Learner Support

25 years serving immigrant and multilingual communities. I help institutions welcome, advise, and advance English-language and newcomer learners.

  • ESL/ELL program & pathway design
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) resources & family navigation
  • Immigrant student support & staff training

About

Two decades of expanding who gets to succeed.

My career is built on a dedication to students and the opportunities they deserve. I've spent more than 25 years across classrooms, community colleges, and statewide systems expanding access for adult learners, students of color, English language learners, and other New Majority Learners, making sure education reflects their strengths, identities, and lived experiences while removing the barriers that stand in their way.

As REACH Collaborative Coordinator for the North Carolina Community College System, I managed a multi-year, Lumina-funded statewide grant that increased BIPOC enrollment by 30% over three years and expanded access for more than 500 adult learners annually. As a college director, I managed budgets over $500,000, secured more than $1 million in grant funding, and built a nationally recognized HSE Boot Camp with an 87% completion rate.

My doctoral research, REACHing Adults, and my forthcoming Emerald book chapter, Data as Colonization, sit at the intersection of scholarship, practice, and systems change. I bring that same rigor to every client, framing evidence for policymakers and practitioners alike, and centering learners as the architects of their own futures.
